Last updated: 27 July 2026

Built In Home Renovations (ABN 00 000 000 000) ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Information we collect

We only collect information reasonably necessary for our functions and activities. This usually includes:

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and the address of the property to be renovated.
  • Project information: plans, measurements, photographs of your home, material selections, budget range and timing.
  • Transaction records: quotes, contracts, invoices, payments and variations.
  • Correspondence: emails, messages, call notes and site meeting records.
  • Website usage data: pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, collected through cookies and analytics.

We do not collect sensitive information (such as health or financial account details) unless you provide it voluntarily and it is necessary for the work.

2. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you through our enquiry form, phone calls, emails, site visits and consultations. We may also collect it from third parties such as your architect, designer, strata manager or referrer, where you have asked them to deal with us on your behalf.

3. Why we collect and use it

  • To respond to enquiries and prepare quotes
  • To design, plan, schedule and deliver your renovation
  • To coordinate trades, suppliers and any required permits or approvals
  • To invoice you and manage payments
  • To meet obligations under building, safety, warranty and tax laws
  • To improve our services and website
  • To send updates or marketing where you have consented (you can opt out at any time)

4. Photographs of your home

We often photograph completed work. We will always ask for your permission before using photographs of your home in marketing, on our website or on social media, and we do not publish your address or identifying details alongside them. You may withdraw that permission at any time by contacting us, and we will remove the images from material we control.

5. Disclosure

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • Trades, subcontractors and suppliers engaged on your project
  • Building surveyors, certifiers and local councils where approvals are required
  • Our professional advisers, insurers and financial institutions
  • Service providers who support our business, such as IT, hosting, email and analytics providers
  • Anyone else you authorise, or where required or permitted by law

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers, for example cloud hosting, email and website analytics, may store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes access controls, secure storage and staff confidentiality obligations. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. How long we keep it

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law. Building records, contracts and warranty documentation are typically kept for at least seven years, and longer where building or statutory warranty periods require it.

9. Access and correction

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct anything inaccurate or out of date. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days. In limited circumstances we may refuse access, and if so we will explain why in writing.

10. Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us first so we can investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au, by phone on 1300 363 992, or by writing to GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001.

11. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for detail on what we use and how to control it.
